Two items can recover the vehicle; driving is not a charging step.

Use the charger on the right battery

A charger can bring back a depleted battery. The ignition message broken is therefore a reason to charge or replace the vehicle battery, not proof that it must be discarded. Check the new charge reading after using the item.

Do not spend an Engine Repair Kit trying to charge it. The charger, engine kit and tire kit serve different parts.

  1. Locate the RV battery, not a small loose battery used by a flashlight or tool.
  2. Hold the Battery Charger and aim at the vehicle battery. Use the E Repair prompt when it appears; follow your displayed use key if you have changed the controls.
  3. Check the battery reading and retry the ignition. If a new warning appears, follow that warning next.

Keep the charge for the next leg

NPC Tips identifies headlights, cabin lights and the wiper system as the Demo drain sources; the engine itself neither charges nor drains the battery. The Demo also reports wipers as unavailable, so the useful habit is to turn unnecessary lights off.

Use headlights when visibility requires them. At a daylight stop, turn the vehicle lights off before walking away. Do not wait beside a running engine expecting an alternator to refill the battery.

No spare and no charger

Those locations can contain the items; they are not guaranteed suppliers. Steam players describe both plentiful chargers and runs with very few. Do not treat one empty building as proof that charging items do not exist.

  1. Keep the RV in a place you can identify from the road. Note the direction of the next visible stop and the return bearing.
  2. Take drinking water and usable food before a walk. Search gas stations, radio stations, watch towers or factories for a charger or vehicle battery.
  3. Bring the item back, restore the battery, and try the ignition again.

If the old battery will not detach

A June Demo workaround, reported by NPC Tips from a developer reply, is to save, return to the main menu, reload and try removing it again. This is a workaround for an older report, not a confirmed cure for every current save.

If the battery has charge but the engine still refuses to start, stop treating the battery as the only possible fault and use the ignition troubleshooting guide.
