Choose the recovery for your session
| Session state | Recovery |
|---|---|
| Co-op friend still alive | Have the survivor approach the downed chicken/player and use the revive action. |
| Solo run | Continue from the last usable save. |
| Everyone down | Use the game’s last-save recovery. |
Help a downed teammate
Official Demo updates explicitly added item-free teammate revival. A Revive Kit appearing in the item list does not mean every revival must spend one. Follow the current interaction rather than assuming an older kit-only rule.
- Keep the surviving player’s food, water and health stable first.
- Find the downed teammate in the chicken state.
- Use the offered revive interaction; NPC Tips reports holding the revive action or using a Revive Kit in the Demo.
- After recovery, treat poison, hunger or thirst before driving away.

Recover the solo run
The developer’s June explanation says the intended solo recovery is the last save. The same thread contains early save/load problems, so the old comment is not evidence of permanent death or proof that a particular save can always be recovered.
Use the last usable save offered by your current Demo. Do not overwrite saves or delete game data in an attempt to remove the chicken state. No verified manual save-file restore procedure is included here.
Check why the health ran out
The original player thread includes a cactus collision followed by health loss, while the developer identifies the chicken as the death state. That is a player example, not a claim that every collision produces the same damage.
- Look for starvation, dehydration or poison before continuing.
- Avoid fuel and oil as drinks.
- Inspect both the character and vehicle after a serious collision.
- Keep medicine and a ready ration within reach.
