The coolant instruction means water

Do not put the opening drive on hold while looking for a bottle named antifreeze. NPC Tips reports no lootable coolant item in the Demo and identifies water as the usable radiator liquid. Water cans or jugs, buckets and smaller water containers can do the job.

A container is useful only if it contains water. Keep gasoline away from this task, and preserve a drinking reserve instead of pouring all your water into the vehicle.

Fill it before you start

You can fill a loose radiator before fitting it to the RV. If the radiator is already installed, aim at that part rather than the nearby fuel tank. Keep a separate drinking reserve.

  1. Locate the radiator and a container with water.
  2. Hold the water container and aim at the radiator. Check that the transfer destination is Radiator.
  3. Use Transfer to add water. The example shows E; follow the key displayed by your own controls. Check the remaining water if transfer stops.
  4. Fit the radiator if needed, stow spare water and try the ignition.

Recover after an overheating shutdown

The official Demo patch notes confirm that the heat and cooling model was reworked so the engine can overheat under real driving conditions. Old footage with an apparently harmless empty radiator may predate that change.

  1. Stop the engine and allow it to cool. Repeated ignition attempts do not refill the radiator.
  2. Check that the radiator is installed and has water. Refill it if needed.
  3. Try the ignition after cooling. If it now reports a broken engine, repair or replace the engine.
  4. Resume with a short check rather than immediately committing to a long drive.

Avoid a second shutdown

Inspect the radiator at ordinary looting stops, alongside fuel, battery and tires. A reserve water container is useful for travel, but it is not a reason to ignore your thirst bar.

There is no reliable universal drive-time figure here: balancing changed during the Demo, and elapsed time depends on keeping the engine running. Use the actual liquid reading rather than a countdown from an old video.
