Search containers, not a fixed map coordinate

The world is generated for each run, so a universal water coordinate would be misleading. Bottles and larger water containers occur in the Demo loot tables for multiple stop types, including the starter house, gas stations, factories and wooden cabins.

NPC Tips calls the large water container a Water Can in its radiator guide and a Water Jug in its item table. Treat those names as the same practical search category here: a large container intended for water. A can you find may already be partly empty.

Move water into useful containers

The large water container and bucket let you move more water than a bottle. NPC Tips documents water transfer between compatible containers in the Demo. Look at the actual liquid level before counting a container as a reserve.

Do not drink an unidentified liquid because the container looks familiar. Gasoline and oil damage health in the Demo.

  1. Read the container liquid and fill level before using it.
  2. Pour water between compatible containers when you need to consolidate it.
  3. Keep fuel in its own can and a drink accessible near your supplies.
  4. Return the larger reserve to the RV before driving.

When water is running low

Stop optional planting and decoration trips and search the next roadside structure. Keep the road and the RV in sight when practical; an unplanned desert walk can consume the reserve you are trying to replace.

Steam players report both dry starts and runs with several full containers. Search additional stops when one is empty. Plan around the water you have found; a renewable water source has not been confirmed for this Demo.

Before every departure

  • Drink if needed and leave some available for the next stop.
  • Check radiator water separately from your carried supply.
  • Look at the actual liquid level in spare containers.
  • Reassess a long detour if food, water or vehicle condition is already low.
