Repair the engine, then test the ignition

The engine kit, tire kit and Battery Charger serve different parts. After a repair, read the part’s condition before spending another item: one use need not make it new.

Do not keep driving an overheating engine because a kit is available. Water and cooling prevent the immediate fault from returning.

  1. Park and stop before handling parts. Open the engine access area if needed.
  2. Hold the Engine Repair Kit and use it on the engine. If you have a working spare instead, replace the failed engine.
  3. Try the ignition and read the new message. Resolve fuel, battery or heat warnings individually.

Check each tire after a hard impact

A spare tire helps when a wheel is missing; a repair kit cannot stand in for an unattached part. Avoid a speed test with a newly repaired vehicle.

  1. Stop and look for a missing tire or a damaged fitted tire.
  2. Use a Tire Repair Kit on the damaged tire, or fit a working spare where needed.
  3. Check the remaining wheels before driving away.
  4. Make a slow movement and steering test near the stop.

Build a small useful reserve

The Demo item tables list several possible locations for repair supplies, including the starter area, gas stations and factories, but a possible loot table is not a guarantee at every building. Choose the next visible stop over an invented fixed coordinate.

  • Keep a working replacement when it fills a real gap in your current spares.
  • Look for engine and tire repair kits while you are already looting roadside stops.
  • Store repair supplies where you can reach them without moving the kitchen.
  • Check current fuel, radiator water and battery before leaving.
